Clemens was not in the best humorbecause I had allowed him to oversleep. He threw it on the hall table formailing, but later got out of bed and slipped down-stairs to get it. The actual date fell three days later; but that wouldbring it on Sunday, and to give it on Saturday night would be more thanlikely to carry it into Sabbath morning, and so the 27th was chosen. One longs to go back through the years and facehim to the light and arouse him to the vast sham of it all.
